>] About AACME - Mission
The American Academy of Continuing Medical Education (AACME) mission is to promote global excellence in public health, by defining, reviewing, and publicizing CME standards related to CME structure, process and outcome; measuring healthcare organization's CME performance against the AACME's peer-set standards; enhancing the knowledge of physicians and health care professionals through the highest level of accreditation standards for continuing medical education programs (CME) that are vital for their ongoing knowledge and skills they need to provide their patients and communities with optimum care and which will assist them in understanding the disease mechanism, diagnosis, and treatments.
Although, each Medical Authority and Medical Society adopts specific sets of CME standards and guidelines to satisfy their public policy, the AACME imposes even higher standards for accreditation of CME programs and enduring materials that act as a catalyst in ensuring that physicians and other allied health care professionals are offered the highest quality continuing medical education programs and learning modules, in order to keep them at the forefront of current knowledge.
The accreditation award symbolizes official recognition of excellence to the public, local community agencies, professional associations and local, regional and provincial governments.
>] AACME Philosophy
AACME accreditation plays a major role in balancing dual compliance with the medical authorities' regulatory requirements and the AACME Accreditation Standards and CME Policy Criteria, ensuring that the quality of contents of continuing medical education programs and activities meet or exceed the national and global standards.
Often, state, federal and international medical authorities find it hard to monitor the changes in the ever-changing medical technology and health care delivery system. Through a deeming language instigating health care organizations to become accredited under the AACME's Accreditation Policies and Standards, medical authorities ensure that health care organizations and professionals maintain their compliance with the national and global standards, through the AACME validation of health care organizations' competency monitoring, without the burden on the medical authority of ensuring that the health care organization, physicians and other health care professionals meet these global standards.
 |
The AACME accreditation process assesses the quality and adequacy of CME contents, management, and delivery of continuing medical education programs for health care organizations (including faculties of medicine and CME institutions) through nationally and globally accredited standards, hence increasing perspicuity for the physicians and other health care professionals, medical authorities (regulators), accredited providers and the public. |

 |
By incorporating AACME Accreditation Standards and Policy criteria, health care organizations can ensure their physicians and other health care professionals' maximum knowledge benefit in the ever changing latest medical diagnosis and procedures, through rigorously accredited continuing medical education programs (including enduring materials) by the AACME. |
| |
 |
AACME accreditation improves the quality of continuing medical education programsA proven method to accomplish accreditation regulatory procedure is for health care organizations (including faculties of medicine) to assimilate AACME accreditation into their own system. |

 |
Since 1989, 96 countries have authorized the AACME to act as a pre-eminent body for the accreditation of the CME activities of their health care organizations, by setting and maintaining the highest level quality standards of continuing medical education program contents, making AACME the most globally recognized continuing medical education accreditation organization. |
